The London Market

After several tough years we are pleased to say that the legal market is finally picking up.

Where many of us have been very much used to hearing of redundancies each week we are now in a position where the market has settled and any redundancies that are still happening are more about strategic planning than a response to falling levels of income.  Many firms in London are now reporting significant profitability increases on the previous year.

The London market has still got a little way to go before it is back to how it once was due to firms still being cautious about the future, but the picture is certainly a lot better compared to 2 years ago.

Hiring trends have increased across the City in all areas of law but firms are still able to be very selective with their candidate choice and will insist that any submitted candidate will need to fit the criteria perfectly.  As a result of this some roles will remain available but we anticipate that as the market improves and the candidate pool diminishes, the firms will have to review their approach to their unfilled roles.
